The Truth About School Accreditation
A message from the California
Certification Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors (CCBADC)
Ever wonder if the school you have attended is
approved by CAADAC? Do you worry that the school you have been using
will not be accepted as part of your certification process? Have you
been told that the school you attended is not accepted by CAADAC and
that you could not use their courses toward your CADC or RADI? The
following information can help you avoid confusion or anxiety related to
the school you attended, are attending, or are planning on attending!
For a school’s curriculum to be approved as meeting
the educational requirements for certification, the school does not have
to be on the “CAADAC Approved California Alcohol & Drug Program
Schools” list. If someone wants to attend an institution not on the
“CAADAC Approved California Alcohol & Drug Program Schools”
list, call the CAADAC office to see if the institution has been approved
(there are approximately 50 schools whose programs have been approved).
If the school or program has not been approved in the past, we will
review the curriculum to see if it meets CAADAC’s requirements.
CAADAC members should refrain from making
statements about which schools will or will not meet our requirements
and refer these questions to the CAADAC office. Not to do so
could unfairly, negatively impact the student or the school.
Please do not hesitate to contact CAADAC if you have any questions at
916-368-9412.

California
Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators
CAADE
approved Addiction Studies programs consist of a minimum of 36
semester credit units (or 600 clock hours). All of our programs are
fully accredited and transferable to colleges, universities and
graduate programs nationwide. Students may attend any of our
colleges full or part-time, depending on their individual needs and
time constraints. CAADE college programs provide the opportunity to
develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes required to be
effective in the treatment of alcohol and other drug dependency and
abuse. Our programs are designed to provide students who have no prior
experience in the field of Alcohol and Drug Counseling with a
competency based educational program that meets certification
standards in California in the most efficient, effective and
inexpensive manner available today. Because all of our programs are
fully accredited, financial aid is available for students who qualify.
